Finding a place for you and your guests to stay will be a piece of cake. Hilton Head has over 30 hotels and resort complexes—not counting the hundreds of villas, condominiums, and rental homes also available for short stays. Numerous large hotels are located within the plantation communities (the Island’s gated neighborhoods) and usually include tennis courts, pools, beach access, and more. A popular Island hangout, for example, is the beachfront Tiki Hut at one of the hotels located next door to bakeries, gift shops, and restaurants of Coligny Plaza and the Beach Market. Staying on the island is a great idea because it’s convenient and close to Island activities, and also because it saves time and money otherwise spent traveling back and forth across the Cross Island Expressway.
Reserve your rooms as early as possible. Island accommodations book up quick and last-minute prices can be staggering. Save a few bucks by avoiding busy seasons. Summer months are often packed and expensive in contrast to the more affordable spring and winter, and you’ll find the best prices around February/March. Accommodations can vary as much as $100 between these seasons. Weekends are more affordable than weekdays. In any case, remember to ask to speak to someone in group sales when calling about hotel rooms because they’ll be able to give you discount and deals, if available.
